Deploy with ConnectWise RMM or Automate

If you already manage the fleet from ConnectWise, you do not need to visit each machine. This page covers the flow and the two things that surprise people.

Which product you have

ConnectWise RMM (the Asio platform) is live. ConnectWise Automate is built and works against simulated responses, but it has not yet been run against a real Automate server, so expect to be the first. The status of each is kept on the public integrations pages.

The flow

  1. Open Apps and choose the ConnectWise tile for your product. A wizard starts.
  2. Connect with the API credentials the wizard asks for. They need read access only.
  3. Choose which companies to cover. Each ConnectWise company is mapped to an existing RemediateDesk company or to a new one the wizard creates, and a likely match is suggested for you to confirm.
  4. Choose which devices to cover. A device you leave out is refused if it later tries to enrol.
  5. Copy the generated script and run it from ConnectWise against the groups you chose.
  6. Watch the Progress step. Each device moves from Waiting to Running to Installed, or lands in Failed or Not in this job, with a reason on its row.

Two things worth knowing

For ConnectWise RMM there is no deploy-now button, because its public API cannot run a script for us. You paste the script into ConnectWise once and run it there. The wizard says so, and the integration page explains why.

The script identifies a machine by its hostname. Two devices that share a name cannot be told apart, so rename one before you deploy, and a name that does not match anything in your selection is refused rather than guessed.

After the rollout

Machines appear in their company like any other. Use the Updates page to see which are still on an old agent. The deployment script can be run again later and will upgrade or leave alone a machine that is already current.
