Sign in with Microsoft reference

Status: Live. It is an additional way to sign in, and it does not replace the invitation step or the authenticator check.

For the person signing in

  1. Be invited first, from the Users page, using the same email as your Microsoft work account.
  2. On the sign-in page choose Continue with Microsoft and sign in to Microsoft as usual.
  3. Complete the authenticator check RemediateDesk asks for next.

An invitation that has not yet been used is accepted on the spot, so you do not need to set a temporary password first. Personal Microsoft accounts are not offered.

For an Administrator

Settings has a Sign in with Microsoft card. The first time an Administrator signs in with Microsoft, their Microsoft tenant is linked to your organisation and shown there. The card also controls whether people from your own Microsoft tenant who were never invited may join as Staff. It is off unless you turn it on. Sign-in itself needs nothing set up beyond inviting people.

A person who is not invited and is not covered by that setting is told to ask an administrator. The button cannot be used to start a new organisation.

What it reads

Your name and work email address from Microsoft, and nothing else: not mail, calendar or files. The integration page has the full statement.
