ConnectWise Automate reference

Status: Built, not yet proven. It is implemented and has been tested against a stand-in for the Automate server, never against a real one.

What is different

The wizard is the same one as for ConnectWise RMM, with the same five steps and the same progress page. The difference is the Deploy step. Automate can run commands on its computers, so RemediateDesk can send the install through Automate itself instead of asking you to paste a script.

Each computer is sent two plain-text commands, one to download the installer and one to run it, and the progress page follows each to completion.

What to prepare

An Automate login that can read clients and computers and run commands on them, your server address, and, if the login has two-factor authentication, a current code. Automate also requires an integrator client ID; if ours is not registered on your server, supply your own.

A pasted-script fallback is shown on the Deploy step as well, for cases where you would rather run it yourself.

Why it says not yet proven

Field names and behaviour were taken from Automate's documentation, not from watching a real server. The first customer may meet differences, and the product says so. If you try it, start with a single computer and read the progress page before you widen the selection.

Take care. Treat Automate deployment as a trial. ConnectWise RMM is the proven route.
